Use column variables in Excel. Column variables in Excel allow you to specify two columns in Excel, one which will hold your variable names while the other will hold your variable values.

Your variables names should contain letters and underscores, but should not contain spaces or special characters. Your variables values can be just about anything, including currency values (including with currency symbols), numbers, and even text.
